MAN vs. NATURE
So, a couple quarters back I'm always cruising through some fine art blogs just to get some inspiration on color-ways for many of my design projects, and here I come across these pieces by Josh Keyes . He's originally from the Pacific Northwest but now hails from Oakland, California and it's no secret that his art has an environmentally conscious theme to it. Check how he marries the contrast between the serene animals within these post-apocalyptic settings. It's reminiscent of Dali or some other Surrealist, but what is unique about this is the way each subject seems to be cut right out of the environment and is just floating in the negative space. These illustrations seriously remind me of those old science books we used to read in elementary. Dig deeper and check out the graff writing details in his other pieces. Feeling that piece with the shark swimming through the oil fire/spill. I need to get a print of one of these.
