I've been honored to be a part of the Movement Project's latest project: "Dapper Sex Linguistics." The artistic direction, entire concept and vision was brought together through the connections of the last 10 years of inspiration of Philip Cariaso Jr.
Definitely a project for the memory books. It's good to see that there is a mutual respect for a lot of the old timers in the dance community like myself.
Cheers to my Oxnard and Long Beach roots who were able to help make this video a success!
Some of the many crews that reppped: OG Non-Stop, Non-Stop 2.0, PAC Modern, Culture Shock LA, KABA Moder, TM, Sick-Step, Barkada Modern, CADC, Poreotics, Chill-Factor, All-That Crew, and many more.
Enjoy the clip and make sure the check out the previous installments of the Movement Project on Philip's Youtube Channel.
Here is a short description of the video quoted from Enerjon:
"This is Dapper Sex Linguistics, a concept piece that my good friend Philip Cariaso Jr. put together for his group, The Movement Project. A true visionary and artistic mastermind that brought together a "Who's Who" of past and present male choreographers and dancers over the last 20 years into one special project. You can call it a reunion / bridging the gap of sorts...from people I used to compete and battle against in college (yes, I use to dance and choreograph lol a 'la my lovely fam, Pac Modern) to some who I've had the honor with performing with over years...AND especially those who I have had the pleasure to watch grow over the years in their own success while on the sidelines and "behind the scenes." This was a true honor to share this little moment with this ensemble that came from San Diego, the Bay Area, and even as far as London just to be a part of this project. From television shows, movies, music videos....Philip was able to bring together some of the dance talent behind Bruno Mars, Christina Aguilera, Black Eyed Peas, and Chris Brown videos (to name a few) to even household names from America's Got Talent and America's Best Dance Crew....all under one roof."

FRESH Movement: Future Funk & Emanon
In the past few months, Oxnard has been making some noise in the youth dance circuit. Major props go out to Byron Bucao for putting it down for the kids and reaching out to his peers in the industry to help show that dance is a positive outlet for success.
With the help from SoRealCru, Emanon, has produced a well edited clip of some of their latest sets.
A member of Emanon, Miles "Baby Boogaloo" Brown, hit the big screen with his buddy Bailey "Bailrok" Munoz as the dynamic duo of Future Funk on America's Got Talent.

FRESH Tribute: The Legendary King of Pop: Michael Jackson

MJ has definitely touched many people in this world. His musicality, powerful stage presence, and just his raw talent over the past 50 years has influenced the best in the game. These past few days I've been reading testimonial after testimonial of how big of an impact MJ had their lives. He straight up set the standard for what he did and pushed folks to reach higher and only get better at their craft. Forget all that negative media about him that drives ratings up, lets just remember him for his pure greatness. I can go on and on about MJ's FRESHNESS...but I'm going to post some of the best things I've seen pop up on the web about the King...

Entourage Sneek Peak to Fresh New Series

Wanna know what our commander in chief watches when he's not solving the world's biggest problems? That's right, Entourage. Here's a sneek peak of HBO's Entourage starting July 12.
Here's the season 5 Last episode recap
...After another late night drowning their sorrows, the guys gather in Vince's mom's kitchen in Queens as she demands to know why her son can't play the lead in Gus Van Sant's latest feature: Page Six says that Joaquin Phoenix dropped out. But when E calls Ari, he informs him Gus isn't a fan; the director even refuses to have Vince audition. Undeterred, Eric goes to Gus's office to try and get Vince a shot. Meanwhile, Vince's mom surprises him with a welcome home party and he and the guys catch up with friends and family. Drama continues to give Turtle a hard time about the mysterious calls he's getting, but Turtle refuses to say anything until Drama grabs the phone away and Jamie-Lynn comes clean. After waiting all day, E finally catches Gus and convinces him to watch Vince's footage from 'Smokejumpers.' Ari balks, but manages to get the footage to Gus, who calls E and Vince, impressed, but not enough to cast him. At the end of his rope, Vince fires E, blaming him for his career failures. Furious, Eric heads back to LA. When Vince gets a surprise offer from Martin Scorsese to star in his next film, Ari points out that it's actually due to E - since it was Gus who slipped Marty the 'Smokejumpers' takes. Back in Hollywood, E won't take Vince's calls so he returns to mend their friendship in person; with a group hug in Eric's office, the boys are back in business.

The Dead Weather...Fresh Alternative!

Jack White's new super group, The Dead Weather, formed in Nashville just this year but their music sounds vintage, authentic and downright infectious. Consisting of The Kills' Alison Mosshart (vocals) , Queens of the Stone Age's Dean Fertita (guitars), Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs & The Greenhornes (bass) and Jack White of The White Stripes & The Raconteurs (drums/vocals), the group brings a dark thumping sound that leaves you wanting more. On July 14, Dead Weather will release their debut album called Horehound. Their debut single "Hang You from the Heavens" is available on itunes and the group recently performed the song at The Tonight Show with Conan O'brien.

FRESH Artist: RED
So Jay-Z said auto tune is dead right? Well, besides the fact that it's been played out, he probably saw these clips. Back story on this West Coast cat , Red, is that he was freestyling outside of the HVW8 offices, someone caught it on their phone, and now this homeless dude has fresh producers lined up to work with him. Last word on this guy though is that he is locked up, but it doesn't mean he can't make the music...inmates are getting an earlful of Red's bluesy flows.

Red - The Man Without the Machine’s first single, I should tell ya momma on you, with remixes by CHOPS and Dam-Funk, will be out July 23rd on iTunes.

Stay updated to Red's situation right here. Lets hope he comes thru and records material and shuts all this autotune madness down.

FRESH Music: DCUP Style - Sweat It Out!
I uncovered this DJ/Producer searching for a random Jazzanova remix via hypem.com. Turns out that I found some heat in that house/dance/funk/disco/70s era. This dude pays tribute to all the classical feel good vibes that make you want to dance. Only a few tracks can be found via blogs and online means, but I seriously recommend this to all the house heads out there.Enjoy the FRESH linkage!!

THE FRESHEST: JAY $TAY PAID
3 years after Dilla's life was taken by complications from Lupus, it is still obvious that he has still left us with so much more music, and most of it floating around on blogs and Z-Shares- alike for the free download route. Well this is not one of those 'unofficial' albums right here. I've heard many previews and bit's and pieces of this album in the making and can tell you that this has that raw feel that DONUTS had. JAY $TAY PAID had the blessing and is Executive Produced by Ms. Yancey, which makes it even that much more special. Dilla's Idol, Pete Rock, mixes the tracks and is responsible for the arrangement. Most of the tracks are instrumentals, as they should be, but cameos by MF DOOM,Black Thought of the Roots, the homie BLU, and others round out the album.
"It wasn't rushed and it wasn't haphazard," explains Ms Yancey. "This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks & DATs. Its mind blowing...this is like the missing links to Dilla's legacy."
Check the preview by J.Rocc
Gems.
Executive produced by Dilla’s mother, Ms. Yancey AKA “Madukes” on Nature Sounds June 2nd 2009.

FRESH ART: Josh Keyes
MAN vs. NATURE
So, a couple quarters back I'm always cruising through some fine art blogs just to get some inspiration on color-ways for many of my design projects, and here I come across these pieces by Josh Keyes . He's originally from the Pacific Northwest but now hails from Oakland, California and it's no secret that his art has an environmentally conscious theme to it. Check how he marries the contrast between the serene animals within these post-apocalyptic settings. It's reminiscent of Dali or some other Surrealist, but what is unique about this is the way each subject seems to be cut right out of the environment and is just floating in the negative space. These illustrations seriously remind me of those old science books we used to read in elementary. Dig deeper and check out the graff writing details in his other pieces. Feeling that piece with the shark swimming through the oil fire/spill. I need to get a print of one of these.

FRESH COVERS: HELLO IT'S ME
So I was just checking out the blog of Yumkimi Nagano from Sweden's Little Dragon (my favorite band waiting for their sophmore album due out in Oct.), it's called Electric Forest and she posted up this old throwback of the Isley Brother's performing 'Shout!' and they were just groovin'! It kinda inspired me to bring an Isley favorite of mine, which I just barely found out was a cover song originally written by rocker Todd Rundgren. Then I found this old fusion Nazz cover as well. Anyways peep all three versions if your in that kinda mood. Hello It's Me. Oh i'm sorry, the John Legend version is a nice attempt but comes nowhere close to these three.

Fresh Piano Lessons: Colin Munroe
I first heard this at about 3:30am on the MTVU Channel and I was tired delirious and hungry while finishing up renderings for school, and my first impression was, who is this with the robotic voice and why is this beat so bangin? Well because it's produced by Dillatroit's Black Milk, and the soul comes from Canadian native Colin Munroe. He's got a dope version of Kanye's 'Flashing Lights' and the rest of his mixtape is pretty solid w/ appearances from Skyzoo, Wale, and Saukrates. Overall he's got a pretty overall solid soul vibe thats subtle and carries on his own despite all the cameos. Im convinced.
